“Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, but the glory of the Lord rises and appears over you.” Isaiah 60:2
We all have reasons for living. Everyone needs the inspiration to strive toward living the best life they can possibly live. Otherwise, we simply go through the motions and never achieve all that we can achieve.
Sadly, people choose all kinds of things to put in that spot in their lives. For some, it may be money, career, and status. For others, it’s an idealized vision of a romantic relationship based on the deceptions we see in the movies and on TV. But what if it was all simpler than that? What if there was one thing we were all meant to live for, and if we did, everything else would fall into place?
In fact, that’s exactly how it is. Our lives should glorify God. God made us this way! We were created from an overflow of His love to love and be loved by Him. It’s that simple and beautiful! We should live to glorify God first and foremost. If something else ever takes the top priority in our lives over this, it has become an idol in our lives.
Romans 3:23 says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” There’s nothing we can do about this in our own power. Thankfully, God has done something about it on our behalf. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, we now have the freedom to walk in relationship with God, unchained by our sins. We can live to glorify God!
God made this universe, this world, and all in it for His glory. When you fully embrace that truth it’s a life changer. Live so the glory of God is displayed in you!
1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” When you live out this mindset in your everyday life, you will reach the fullness of your potential in Christ.
