CLAY COUNTY – Are you looking for an inside winter hobby? Why not consider bird watching.

February is National Bird Feeding Month. This national holiday started in 1994 to recognize February as one of the most difficult months in the United States for wild birds. We are encouraged to help them by placing a feeder or feeders of different types in our yards.

Different birds prefer different feeders. Foods you can place in a feeder are bird seed mixtures, suet, brown or white rice and crumbled bread.

Add a birdbath or fountain to your landscape to provide them with water. Please be sure to clean your feeders and birdbaths regularly to keep bacteria at bay. Bird watching gives us the pleasure of learning about the different species of birds and how to attract them to our yards.
