MIDDLEBURG - Days ahead of Thanksgiving, First Baptist Church of Middleburg welcomed families in need with a heartfelt gift.
On Saturday, a line of cars waited patiently to receive boxes of donated food for their holiday feast.
In what the church calls its annual "Feeding the 5,000," church volunteers distributed a thousand boxes of traditional Thanksgiving dinners. The church officially began the event in 2017.
Each box contained enough food to feed five people. It contained a turkey, cans of green beans and cranberry sauce, boxes of stuffing, mashed potatoes and brownie mix.
The church's members had collected the food and hand-prepared the boxes days earlier at their packing party.
The morning was filled with the spirit of giving thanks as each car rolled by. Volunteers welcomed the vehicles with warm hellos, kind words and prayers.
