GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Days after the Clay County Fair Association canceled this year’s fair, it had little choice but to pull the plug on the livestock program and sale, as well.
“With guidance and recommendations from the CDC and local emergency management officials, the decision was made to cancel the traditional show and sale that is typically done during the fair,” the association said in a release. “We understand the amount of work and money participants have put into each animal and although we never would have imagined this would be the case, we have developed a contingency plan for our participants to recoup their costs and make the best of the situation that has been given to us.”
Participants will have the opportunity to reach out to their buyers and we will also be accepting donations to the livestock program as a whole, which will be evenly distributed to all participants.
