JACKSONVILLE - Four area high school soccer standouts from Clay County have been punching up impressive numbers for the Jacksonville Armada FC womens team with the latest game, a 5-0 win coming with goals from Fleming Island standout Sophie Pontieri and Clay High standout Brooke Bunton.
Pontieri, now at University of North Florida, took a crossing pass from Bunton in the first half of the Armada's game Saturday at Patton Park against FC Prime Time out of Tamarac, FL. Pontieri's first half goal was the lone goal of the half as teams took their halftime break. Pontieri did have one shot on goal at close quarters that was deflected by the FC Prime Time goalie.

In the second half, it was Bunton's time to score with former Clay High athlete Liz Anne Fogerty, a college player at Mississippi State and Georgia State University now an assistant coach at Clay High, adding an assist to get the Armada to the 5-0 win. Bunton, a USA Womens U-17 National team member, is set to play at Southern Methodist University in Texas.
In the previous week, Fogerty blasted a hat trick three goals in an 11-0 road win for Armada over AGC Football in Miami. Fogerty also triggered a four goal second half with a late goal in a 4-4 tie with defending champion West Florida two weeks ago.
Also on the Armada roster is former Oakleaf High defensive standout Kylie Overstreet with Fleming Island junior goalie Emily Poucher also listed, but not playing while visiting colleges.
