ORANGE PARK – As part of the Garden Club’s Civic Beautification Program, the Whippoorwill Circle has adopted the garden beds around the Carrie Clarke House at Clarke Park on Kingsley Avenue.
This fall the members weeded and mulched the beds and planted mums, pentas, shrimp plants and coleus to add a variety of colors and textures to the landscape. Although the mums were purchased from a garden center, the pentas were propagated by Bob Warren, an honorary member of the Club, and the coleus were grown from cuttings obtained from the University of Florida when Dr. Clark spoke to the Circle last fall.
A few scarecrows, a pumpkin and a “Happy Fall” sign was added to prepare the area for the upcoming Fall activities at Clarke Park.
