Group rallies against bill that changes disability services

The Clay County Change Makers joined the group from Duval County last Saturday at the Orange Park Town Hall to rally against Senate Bill 82 by Sen. Aaron Bean (R-Fernandina Beach) that will make some detrimental changes that could negatively impact the services that people with disabilities to live independently in their community. The bill requires the 34,000 people and entities under contract with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities to use the agency data management systems to bill for services; revises criteria used by the agency to develop a client’s budget; and, requires the Agency for Health Care Administration to seek federal approval to provide consumer-directed options; requiring the Agency for Persons with Disabilities to competitively procure qualified organizations to provide support coordination services.
