Groups work together to make Christmas magic for 41 Clay County children

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Clay County Habitat for Humanity and local partners came together to provide Christmas gifts for 41 Clay County children in need.

The Clay County Board of Directors, Catholic Charities Jacksonville, Jax Federal Credit Union Orange Park Branch and community members teamed to provide toys, bikes, scooters, books, arts and crafts, makeup, nail polish, clothes, shoes and even horseback rides. A community member gave 40 Christmas wreaths to Clay County Habitat’s future and current homeowners.

“This annual Christmas tradition is special for everyone involved, but this year it meant a lot more. The year has been tough on so many in our community and the need was much greater. The office was filled with Christmas cheer and joy as the parents of the children picked up the gifts. Many of them were astonished by the generosity of the community,” said Carolyn Edwards, Clay County Habitat for Humanity’s Executive Director.

“Catholic Charities Jacksonville is humbled by the hundreds of gifts our generous Share Your Blessings donors have collected this season. Being able to give Christmas gifts to Clay Habitat for Humanity homeowners feels like a gift to us and we are honored to share with the families they serve in Clay County,” said Nicola Barnack, Development Director for Catholic Charities Jacksonville.
