CLAY COUNTY– The Florida Department of Education selects Clay County’s Jennifer Halter as the state’s 2021 Principal of the Year.
“This is a fantastic day for Principal Halter, Green Cove Springs Junior High, and Clay County District Schools! The Florida Department of Education could not have chosen a better leader for this honor.
Principal Halter is everything a superintendent could ask for in a building leader. She is a mentor to beginning and novice principals, a strong collaborator on many of our district committees, and is an instructional coach to her faculty and staff; always encouraging them to be the best educators possible for their students,” said Superintendent David Broskie.
“It’s an honor to be chosen among so many great leaders to serve as State Principal of the Year. I am humbled and thankful to work alongside so many amazing educators in Clay County and across the state of Florida! Together, let’s keep doing great things every day for students,” said Principal Halter.
Jennifer Halter is in her sixth year as principal at Green Cove Springs Junior High School. Previous to her role as principal, she served as the assistant and vice-principal at Green Cove Springs Junior High where she helped lead the school from a “C” to an “A” school grade, which has continued to be maintained under her leadership. Principal Halter leads at the state level on the board of the Florida Association of Secondary School Principals for the Florida Association of School Administrators where she works to champion other great school principals’ work across the state during National Principals Month, and at the national level as the State Coordinator for all secondary school principals of Florida for the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Principal Halter is part of Education Class 6 for Leadership Florida and is also currently earning her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of North Florida.
