ORANGE PARK – Weddings are complex affairs with several moving parts that requires months, and in some cases, years of planning.
All of the resources, whether it’s wedding photographers, caterers or entertainment, will be in the same place as the Thrasher-Horne Center hosts its first Clay Bridal Spectacular.
The event is 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, June 15, at the Thrasher-Horne Conference Center.
Conference Center Director Bob Olson said the center was adding to its programming by hosting more events, as well as renting out the space.
“It sets up for an intimate experience and a lot of one on one discussions rather than a huge number of folks going through, and information being tossed at you,” Olson said. “It gives a bride a chance to talk to some wedding experts. We’re throwing the word ‘annual’ in there for a reason, we are definitely going to have another bridal spectacular.”
As a “boutique” mid-sized expo, Olson said the Clay Bridal Spectacular would have 20-30 vendors and he expected 150-200 people to attend. He wanted brides to walk away with new knowledge and ideas to apply to their wedding. Vendors will also receive marketing materials provided by the center.
“We’re trying to make it so everyone has a positive experience, not just one group of people,” Olson said.
The county is growing, Olson said, and it’s about time the county residents don’t have to drive to Jacksonville or St. Johns County for similar events. The Thrasher-Horne will look at other niche events to host in the county because the market is there, he said.
“With our [county’s] growth, we’re at that point where the county could have a lot of those opportunities within it,” Olson said. “I’m trying to think a little out of the box and I’ve got a great team that’s helping me.”
Admission is $5 in advance and $10 at the door. For more details about the first Clay Bridal Spectacular and giveaways at the event, visit www.thcenter.org/events/claybridal.
