ORANGE PARK – Ridgeview High batter Tatiana Ilias punched up her second homer in two playoff games as the Panthers rumbled to a 13-0 region 1-6A quarterfinal win over Stanton Prep at Ridgeview High on Wed., May 8.
Ilias blasted a two run homer in the Panthers 7-1 district championship win over Ponte Vedra High last week.
The Panthers (20-8) advance and will host Ponte Vedra (14-12, Final Four 2017, Region final 2016) on Wed., May 15 in the region 1-6A semifinal. West Florida (23-4, 2014 state champion, lost to Clay in 2018 region final) is at Choctawhatchee (24-1, last in region 2007) in the opposite semifinal.
Against Stanton, Ridgeview roared to a 10-0 first inning lead with three singles in four batters; Sarah Anderson, Brittany Michael and Alyssa Adams to go up 2-0 quickly.
A single to Natalie Foret after an error put Brooke Michael both on base got Ilias’ blast and a 6-0 lead.
Two more singles; Hannah Foster and Anderson a second time set up an error on a Raven Little fly ball that scored the game 8-0.
A walk to Michael, Adams getting hit by a pitch and a single to Ashlyn Halford got the game to 9-0 with Brooke Michael getting hit with a pitch with bases loaded going 10-0.
A double to Gabby Lucas and four singles scored three more as the game got out of hand.
Brittany Michael finished with seven strikeouts and just one hit with Dani Rios finishing the final fifth inning with one strikeout. Stanton pitcher Makenzie Starling had zero strikeouts.
