GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Interim David Broskie joined the race to be the fulltime superintendent of schools in Clay County.
Broskie recently was selected by Gov. Ron DeSantis to serve fill in as the superintendent until voters select a new one this November.
Previous superintendent, Addison Davis, who recently resigned to work as the Hillsborough County superintendent, is still filed as active against Aaron Smith, Charlie Van Zant, Melanie Walls and Melanie Wright.
Van Zant has received over $90,000 while Walls has received less than $1,000. Davis is the only other active candidate to have received contributions, but considering he’s expected to drop out of the race as he won’t be running in it, his $44,311 in contributions won’t be used. The other candidates do not have any contributions at the time of this writing.
Voters will decide which of these six candidates will become the fulltime superintendent during a primary on Aug. 18 and the general election on Nov. 3.
