GREEN COVE SPRINGS – The 40th Annual J.P. Hall Children’s Charities Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Party will be held at the Clay County Fairgrounds located at 2497 State Road 16 in Green Cove Springs. No signups or pre-registration is needed.

The organization serves children ages newborn to 14 years old. It will be a drive-thru event again this year and children must be in the vehicle to receive toys.

Although toys are given away at 9, many will arrive several hours in advance. For some, it’s the only chance to make sure there are gifts under the Christmas tree.

Everyone in line at noon will be served, organizer Virginia Hall said.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, last yea’s event was deemed successful.

“The community really stepped up,” Hall said then. “Organizations and individuals have really helped. We were lucky to continue this.”

One change from a year ago is the return of bicycles to the wish lists. Bikes, new and refurbished, will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis.

There is no paperwork required to receive gifts. We are in need of new toys and monetary donations. Toys may be dropped off at any Clay County Fire Stations or at the Fairgrounds on Friday, Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. until noon. Residents also may make a monetary donation at https://jphallcharities.com/.
