Law enforcement officials from Florida help with CCSO transition

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook invited law enforcement officials and experts from across the state to lend insight to agency operations as part of the agency’s transition period.

Officials from more than 10 agencies were invited to come to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to delve into major operations of the agency. These subject matter experts worked closely with our members to do a thorough overview into areas that included training, investigations, patrol, PAL, community affairs, communications, finance, narcotics, internal affairs, real time crime, evidence, emergency preparedness, services, special ops, detention, human resources, K9, SWAT, accreditation and traffic. They shared their findings with Sheriff Cook and other members of the transition team, which is made up of agency leaders. The officials spent, combined, more than 300 hours at our agency over the last two weeks. The goal in inviting outside eyes into the agency was to bring expert opinions to the table on where we can improve, what we’re doing right, and how we can operate better.

During her first month in office, Sheriff Cook worked closely with the agency’s transition team, she visited areas across the agency, and met with agency members at their jobs.

Sheriff Michelle Cook said: “One of the objectives during this transition period is to review all areas of the CCSO. Our agency has a solid foundation with members who are open to improving processes and efficiencies. Our goal is to ensure that we foster and sustain a great work environment that motivates our members to provide the best service possible to our county. We very much appreciate the law enforcement officials who took time from their busy schedules to help us accomplish that.”
