Letter to the Editor: Reader against creation of school police force, hiring new CCSO deputies

I read with distain about our sheriff cook wanting more of our tax money to hire new deputies when she has the extra and potential help in our school police who are duly sworn law enforcement officer and could be deputized those patrol officer. I was never in favor of this school police department when our former sheriff went to the county commissioner and showed that his resource officers could do the job and save the people of clay county tax money. I still contend the so called school police is an over paid security guard force and seldom see their presence when the school is in the evolution of the start of and evolution of dismissal of classes and wonder just what do these police officer do since we the taxpayers are paying for their service or what service, YES WHAT SERVICE?
