Letter to the Editor: Friends of Keystone Heights High focusing on helping Fine Arts Department

Posted

Editor:

Friends of Keystone Heights High is a group that was formed in 2020 to help support various programs at the school, and the organization currently is assisting the Fine Arts Department.

It is putting out an all-call for those musical instruments you have stashed away in that back closet hoping someday you will play again. That

dream can only continue by donating instruments to the Band Program. Even if the instrument has some wear and tear, it can be refurbished by the band director or used for needed parts.

The Keystone community has always come together, so on that note pull out those instruments and bring them back to life by donating them to KHHS, Instruments can be dropped off at KHHS with Band Director James Coker. Let’s put the “Rock On” back in the band.

Another way you can support the band is by attending their Fundraising Dinner/Silent Auction on Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. in the cafeteria. The dinner will be $8 for a pull pork dinner and then you can bid on the many fantastic Silent Auction Items. After the dinner, the band will perform so entertainment, dinner and Silent Auction what a great opportunity to bring the family and support the band. Ramona Petry is heading up the dinner and it will be delicious.

Special thanks to Jennifer Graff for organizing the Silent Auction portion. There will be many items but here are a few; Jessie Shekels with Twisted Oaks is providing a wonderful Pet Basket, all your coffee drinkers take note as a basket filled with items from FirePower Coffee, My Brand has furnished one which includes custom vehicle decal work, Terri Ransom is providing a Scrapbooking/Cardmaking basket that you won’t want to miss. These are but a few. Thank you to all the businesses that are making this possible.

The Friends of KHHS is also being supported by the Lake Region Kiwanis through the Kiwanis Community Band and working on some grant funding for the Art Department and the Music Department.
