ORANGE PARK – A man was charged on Aug. 28 with stealing and selling washers and dryers from empty apartments on Wells Road.

John Calvin Briley, 32, was booked on five counts of burglary and one count of illegally obtaining property after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said he posted washers and dryers on Facebook Marketplace. CCSO said they were taken from two different apartment complexes on Wells Road earlier in the month.

The General Investigations Unit set up a fraudulent Facebook post to purchase a dryer for $100. When the deputy met Briley to buy the dryer, he was arrested.

His bond was set at $150,018.
