ORANGE PARK – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office’s Narcotics Unit and Fugitive Unit uncovered methamphetamine, buprenorphine pills, a variety of drug paraphernalia and a handgun while serving a search warrant at the Stay Suites of America on Wells Road on July 24.
Leroy Doniver McCormick, 46, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute/sell/deliver, marijuana, controlled substance, two counts of selling methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a specified area, drug paraphernalia and use or display a concealed firearm after deputies had to overwhelm him following a brief scuffle in the hotel hallway.
Deputies obtained the warrant after CCSO said McCormick sold methamphetamine to a confidential source working with CCSO on July 22.
The combined bonds are $420,021. His next court date is Aug. 19.
