Former Middleburg High offensive tackle Cole LeClair added one more honor to his illustrious career as a starting offensive lineman for the McNeese State University Cowboys.
LeClair was named to the All-Louisiana Football Second Team offense along with three other teammates including punter Finn Lappin on the first team and running back Joshon Barbie and defensive back Yusef Leak on the second teams.
LeClair was also one of five Cowboys named to the All-Southland Conference teams with LeClair a first-team selection along with Lappin and long snapper Jovoni Borbon with Barbie and linebacker Micah Davey named to the second-team defense.
Leclair ended his three-year career as a Cowboy starting all 12 games this season and all 33 in his McNeese career. A preseason first-team all-conference selection and 2023 second-team recipient, the Middleburg, Florida native played 799 snaps on the year and was a key part of an offense that led the league in rushing with 191.7 yards per game.
Players from LSU, Louisiana-Monroe and Tulane, along with Sun Belt Conference West Division Championship Coach Michael Desormeaux, earned top honors on the 2024 edition of the All-Louisiana College Football Team announced on Thursday by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
LSU’s quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and linebacker Whit Weeks earned state offensive and defensive player of the year honors respectively, while running back Ahmad Hardy of ULM was named the freshman of the year. Tulane wide receiver Mario Williams was named the newcomer of the year for first-year Louisiana players.
Michael Desormeaux, who led UL to the Sun Belt Conference championship game, was named the state’s top coach in 2024.
The team was chosen by a group of voters from the state media relations and communications office and selected media based on nominations made by each university. School media relations voters could not vote for players from their own schools.
