Montgomery Center hosts Fish Fry Fridays

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – Every Friday through April 7, the Montgomery Center will host an outdoor fish fry.

“We’re doing a fish fry every Friday during the season of Lent. That’s the season when we set aside to prepare for Easter.” Rebekah Rodgers, the Transitional Director at Montgomery Center, said.

The center started hosting the fish fry last year to be more involved in the community and to raise money for its summer camp program.

“We started them last year as a way to get more involved in the community and open our doors to the community,” Rodgers said. “It also serves as a fundraiser for our summer camp program.”

Guests attending the fish fry will be able to enjoy a meal of grits, hush puppies, collard green, and either fish or shrimp.

Afterward, guests can enjoy a dessert while enjoying each other’s company and the scenery. Various recreational activities such as Hula Hoops, basketballs, soccer balls, and jump ropes will be available at the Fish Fry for children. Music will be available for everyone to enjoy.

“We would just love to see everyone come out for our Fish Fry Fridays at Montgomery Center,” Rodgers said.

The fry starts at 4:30 p.m. and runs until 7:30 p.m. Fish dinners are $15; fish and shrimp dinners are $20.

The center has enjoyed good turnouts on Fridays.

“It’s been good. We’ve had two so far this year, and they both averaged about 50 participants,” Rodgers said. “We’re happy with the outcome.”

“It was great,” said the Becks, who are locals to the area.

Customers from neighboring counties like as Alachua and Bradford have attended – and plan to visit again.

“It’s just excellent,” one customer said. “We were here last week, and we are going to try to come every Friday.”
