More Like Jesus: Lead Like Jesus

Leading like Jesus involves guiding our families, businesses, and church communities with humility and a servant’s heart. Jesus’ leadership was marked by His humility and willingness to serve others, rather than seeking power or recognition.

In Matthew 5:11-12, Jesus taught, "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven." These verses remind us that true leadership involves enduring hardships with grace and remaining focused on our higher purpose.

Jesus also demonstrated servant leadership when His disciples argued about who would be the greatest among them. He said, "The greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves" (Luke 22:26). This teaching shows us the importance of humility and service in leadership. As leaders, we should prioritize serving those we lead, putting their needs above our own.

In Luke 9:46-48, Jesus further emphasized humility by taking a child and saying, "Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest." This teaches us that greatness in leadership comes from embracing humility and caring for the least among us.

To lead like Jesus, we must also practice empathy and compassion. Jesus was deeply moved by the suffering of others and took action to alleviate it. By showing genuine concern for the well-being of those we lead and making decisions that reflect their best interests, we can embody Jesus’ compassionate leadership.

By leading with humility, servanthood, and compassion, we can inspire and uplift those around us, just as Jesus did.
