NEW ORLEANS – Flagler College junior Marcus Graham, sophomore Justin Greene, and freshmen Asad Bashir and Joel Nesi received all-region honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA).
Nesi, a freshman, is a Ridgeview High School graduate and a state meet competitor in track and cross country.
To earn all-region honors, an athlete must be one of the top-five individuals in their event(s) in their respective region. In addition, each member of a region's top-three relay team was selected for the distinction.
The distance medley relay team of Graham, Bashir, Greene, and Nesi had the second-fastest time in the region with a converted time of 10:21.14 at the Mondo College Invitational (Feb. 2).
At the Mondo Invite, Nesi ran a 4:31.45 mile with teammate Evan Fuller, a Fleming Island High grad, taking second in the 3000 metes in 9:21.68. Nesi has an 8:58.76 split for 3K in a February 22 meet in North Carolina.
Also at the North Carolina meet, Elon University's Andrew Miller, a sophomore out of Fleming Island High, finished third in the 5,000 meters in 15:09.76.
