No Manches brings authentic Mexican flavors to Orange Park

ORANGE PARK – No Manches Tacos Y Mariscos recently opened and brings what it says are authentic Mexican flavors, which will set it apart from its competition in the area.

“We wanted to bring more authentic dishes,” said Alma Cuevas, who owns No Manches along with her husband, Bernardo. “If we would bring more authenticity, it would be nice. I want people to come to our restaurant and get to know more flavors of Mexico.”

No Manches is literally translated “No Stain,” but has many more loose translations and is generally used as slang to mean, “Are you kidding?,” or “What the heck?” It is the fourth restaurant opened in northeast Florida by the Cuevases. Their other restaurants are Casa Maria and Casa Maria Express in St. Augustine and Mariachiles in Palatka. The Guadalajara, Mexico, natives have been in the restaurant business for 10 years and look to make this addition the most successful of their establishments.

One of their specialties is their street tacos, which have 10 choices of meat, to include beef tongue, beef cheek and deep-fried intestines. The restaurant also has plenty of seafood options, including deep-fried red snapper and shrimp. There are still some dishes of the tamer variety, “so we can accommodate everyone,” said Cuevas.

Another of their specialties is Molcajete, which consists of grilled chicken, steak, shrimp, jalapenos and cactus, all served in lava bowl.

“I think it’s going to be very busy here,” said Bibiana Santana, one of the waitresses at No Manches. “I hope many guests come in. The waitresses try to be the best here. We want to make it the best for all the guests coming here and give them the best service.”

The restaurant is located at 174 Blanding Blvd.

“A friend of mine chose it,” said Cuevas. “He lives in the area and he gave us a call and said, ‘I would love for you guys to put a restaurant here.’ So, we came and looked at it, and definitely saw a lot of traffic. We figured we could do pretty good here.”

No Manches gives a fresh take on popular culinary themes in addition to a bright and vibrant interior decorated with the images of prominent Mexicans such as Pancho Villa, Emiliano Zapata and Pedro Infante. There are also images of many Mexican women, who Cuevas said always played a significant role in the Mexican revolution other wars, holding pistols or on horseback.
