Sylvia Bennett-Burgess
Sylvia Bennett-Burgess, 60, of Green Cove Springs, passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020 UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville following an extended illness.
She was born in Orange Park and was a native and lifelong resident of Green Cove Springs. She was a 1978 graduate of Clay High School and had worked as an office manager for 11 years with a local business. Sylvia was a member of Orangedale Baptist Church where she was a children’s church teacher, an assistant pianist, and she served on the Benevolence Committee and the Stewardship and Accounting Committees.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and making floral arrangements. She was a dedicated Christian who wanted to see all of her family living for the Lord.
She is preceded in death by her father, Claude Bennett.
She is survived by her husband of 9 years, John Burgess; her mother, Loretta Bennett; a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Jason Wade; a son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Steffanie Plank; two brothers, Mike Bennett and John Bennett; five grandchildren, Landen, Owen, Cayleb, Aubrey, Braedyn along with one grandchild on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Charlie Hunt and Pastor David Wilkinson officiating. Interment will follow in Decoy Cemetery in Green Cove Springs.
