Sharon Carey Taylor
Sharon Carey Taylor, 71 of Palatka, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville following a brief illness.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 53 years, Tommy Taylor; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Mitzi Taylor; a daughter, Tammy Taylor Looney; two granddaughters, Kristen Looney Parker and Karlie Looney; and one great grandson, Karsen Looney.
No services are planned.

Dr. Mytzi Ellen Saunders
Dr. Mytzi Ellen Saunders, 87, passed away May 10, 2020. Dr. Saunders was born June 14, 1932 in Jacksonville, Florida to parents Harry and Carrie (Prevatt) Taylor.
Mytzi was reared in Middleburg and graduated from Clay High School in 1950. She earned her Master’s Degree and Doctorate Degree from Jacksonville Theological Seminary.
Mytzi and her husband, Rev. James Chalker Saunders, were residents of Penney Farms for over 50 years where she served as U.S. Postmaster for many years. She and Rev. Saunders were active in many local churches. Mytzi was also involved with the Council on Aging and other community associations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Chalker Saunders and siblings, Charles Taylor, Christine Blackwelder, Patsy Sapp and Dennis Taylor.
Survivors are her brother Harry Taylor and children Deborah Kloke (Allen), James Saunders, Jr. (Lisa), Angela Ryan (Jim), Karey Saunders, Jonathan Saunders (Martha), sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mytzi and James cared for many foster children including one special foster daughter, Cathy Wilkinson.

Capt. Sherwin “Sharkey” Estrin
Capt. Sherwin “Sharkey” Estrin (USNR Ret) passed away into the hands of his maker on May 2, 2020.
Sharkey is predeceased by his wife, Mara of more than 61 years.
He is survived by their son, Michael G. Estrin (wife, Jennifer) and daughter, Leslie Kim Wellman (husband, Michael), and two grandchildren, Chloe Estrin and Brittany Wellman.
Sharkey was born on October 14, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland to Louis and Lillian Estrin. After graduating from University of Maryland he was commissioned in the USAF. After leaving the Air Force he joined the Navy Reserves and retired as a Captain in 1982. Sharkey was a Federal Service Engineer where he worked on multiple assignments in military aviation.
Sharkey and Mara enjoyed many world travels, and experience life as few will ever do. He will always be remembered as a man who valued friends. He will be missed by many.
