Bronze Holland Trull Jr.
Bronze Holland Trull Jr., 96, passed away on August 20, 2019. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Bronze was a much loved husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. He was a religious man of few words but deep thoughts. Bronze served in WWII in Patton’s Third Army Second U.S. Cavalry, retired from CSX after 42 years, and was a Shriner and Mason for 70 years.
Mr. Trull is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Martha Griffin Trull; 2 sons: Bronze “Trip” Trull III and John Trull; daughter, Robin Trull Cooke; grand-daughter, Lindsay Trull Peker; 3 great-grandchildren: Katie, Anna and a little boy on the way.
Military Services will be held 11:30 AM, Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to: Haven Hospice, Shriners Hospital or Orange Park Presbyterian Church.

James (Jim) Lancaster, Jr.
James (Jim) Lancaster of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2019.
He was born to James Lancaster, Sr. and Dorothy Lancaster of Jacksonville, FL. on Sept.15, 1951.
Survivors are his daughter Karen Lancaster, granddaughter Maria Lancaster of Green Cove Springs. sisters Gail Lancaster Whissen, and Cindy Lancaster. nieces and nephew, Melissa Calcote, Harald “Tank” Gatza, and Shawnna Walsh.
Jim’s uncle and aunt were George and Mae Painter of the former Painter’s Poultry on Fleming Island. Jim worked 31 years for the City of Green Cove Springs, retiring in 2009 as a Water Line Mechanic Supervisor.

Mary Ruth Franklin Jeffries
Mary Ruth Franklin Jeffries died on August 30, 2019 in Orange Park, at the age of 100.
She was born January 7, 1919, in Danielsville, Georgia, to Marvin Augustus and Ruth Tuck Franklin. With her older brother, Marvin Augustus, Jr., and younger brother and sister, Robert Leonard and Louise, she and her parents moved throughout the South.
Her father, a Methodist minister, had churches in Danielsville, Lawrenceville, Athens, Rockmart, and Atlanta, Georgia; Jacksonville, Florida; and Birmingham, Alabama. He was named Bishop of the United Methodist Church in 1948, and served as President of the Worldwide Council of Bishops from 1960-1962.
Mary Ruth attended Lee High School, Jacksonville; graduated from Ramsay High School, Birmingham, in 1937, attended Birmingham-Southern College, and earned a BA from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, in 1941.
She met William Worthington Jeffries at Vanderbilt where he was completing his doctorate in history. They married in 1940 and moved to Oxford, Mississippi where Bill began his teaching career at the University of Mississippi. In 1942, Bill was assigned to the United States Naval Academy as a lieutenant in the US Naval Reserve, where he joined the history faculty, retiring in 1989. His long career included serving as senior professor (civilian head of department) in the English, History, and Government Department; founder and director of the USNA Archives, and director of the Naval Academy Museum. He died in 1989.
Thanks in large part to the efforts of Mary Ruth, the William W. Jeffries Memorial Archives was dedicated at the USNA in 1991. While raising her family, Mary Ruth was a devoted wife and mother, excelling at cooking, baking, and sewing, and instilling in her children the love of family, learning, and service to others. She had a mischievous sense of humor that she passed on to her children, and she provided important support, often in person, to her far-flung family. She taught her children to persevere, to keep putting one foot in front of the other, no matter the hardships and heartaches.
In essential ways, she was the pillar of the family. Mary Ruth enjoyed reading, cross stitching, and walking. A remarkable and welcoming hostess, she presided over dinners for family and friends with seemingly effortless grace. Over the years, Mary Ruth was active in Book Lovers, Navy Relief, Naval Academy Chapel Guild, Naval Academy Women’s Club, American Red Cross, and Panhellenic. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, Magna Carta Dames, and Calvary Methodist Church.
In 2005, Mary Ruth moved to be near her younger daughters in Florida where she resided at The Allegro Fleming Island and Seagrass Village Fleming Island.
Her five children and their spouses survive her: John and Renate Jeffries, Catonsville, Maryland; Susan and Robert Schwartz, Corvallis, Oregon; Trudy and Michael Parker, Spring Hill, Tennessee; Margaret and Mark Huey, Dallas, Texas; and Virginia and Walter Pillsbury, Orange Park, Florida. She had 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, her parents, brothers, and sister, her first grandchild preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held on September 9, 2019, at Highlands United Methodist Church (where her father served as pastor and where she was married), and burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama. Her family appreciates the steadfast attention of her devoted friends and caregivers. Gloria Betty McGready
Gloria Betty McGready, age 88, of Fleming Island passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on August 27th, 2019.
The daughter of Ralph DePuy and Elizabeth Youngberg & Stepfather James DePuy, she was also raised by her Grandparents Maud DePuy & John DePuy who she lived with until she was 13.
She was born in Newburgh NY on August 25th, 1931 She graduated Newburgh Free Academy, she continued her education by majoring in Accounting at Alfred University.
Gloria was married to John McGready on March 1st, 1952, they were married for 61 years. Both attended high school together and as teenagers they had once danced together at a local Church Dance but they did not fall in love until a friend set them up on a blind date roller-skating, John was just home from Navy Boot Camp, and according to Gloria he was so handsome in his uniform. They were married 5 months later. John always referred to Gloria as his Teenage Bride.
In the words of our Dad John McGready, below is the first time he had seen our Mom Gloria: She had been ice skating and was waiting for a bus. She was wearing a white hat trimmed with angora and white gloves, and she had ice skates around her neck. Why would a four- teen-year-old boy remember such a brief encounter? When we were juniors in high school, we sat next to each other in homeroom, but she had no interest in me; she thought that I was so immature.
After high school she went on to college, and I joined the Navy. I was home on a weekend liberty in October 1951, and we met at a roller-skating rink. She was as beautiful as ever. During the next two months we spent fifteen days together, and on Christmas Eve, I gave her an engagement ring. We had thought about getting married that summer, but on New Year’s Eve, during a phone call, I said let’s do it as soon as we can. We set the date of the wedding for March 1, 1952. We hadn’t spent but fifteen days together and we were planning a marriage. The wedding occurred in the same church that my mother and father were married in. When the big day came, as I stood at the altar waiting for my bride, I had second thoughts. Are we doing the right thing? But then I saw her coming down the aisle on the arm of her father, and those thoughts were gone. She was so beautiful. Our first son was born a year later and we went on to have seven children: five boys and two girls. When I look back at our lives and think of all the things that had to happen to lead us both to that skating rink that night, it is utterly amazing. I praise God for his multitude of blessings.
Gloria was a stay at home mom raising their 7 children, Robert, James, Kevin, Lynda, John, Brian, and Colleen. She then started a career with Sears in the Package Pick-Up Department. After leaving Sears 4 years later, Gloria opened Insurance World in Green Cove Springs with her husband John, where she was the Vice President. She loved spending time with her family and always remembered every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild’s birthday with a card, making each one feel special. She also enjoyed gardening, puzzles, and had a love of music, her favorite being Irish music performed by her son-in-law Spade McQuade and the television show Mollie B Polka Party. Gloria also had love for all animals, including her 3 cats that showed up on her doorstep. In addition to spoiling her cats, she feed ever bird, squirrel, raccoon, and hummingbird within a 2-mile radius of her home. Always worrying if they had enough to eat & drink. Gloria made numerous donations to ASPCA, The Humane Society, National Audubon Society, and Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
Gloria is survived by her 6 children Robert McGready, James McGready and wife Mechele, Lynda and husband Don Dapra, John McGready III and wife Cindy, Brian McGready and wife Begona, Colleen and husband Spade McQuade. Also 14 Grandchildren, and 17 Great Grandchildren. Her Husband John, and her son Kevin precede her in death. Her children will cherish all the special moments & memories that they had with her. She was truly a special lady, and a wonderful mother.
