H. Whit Watson III

H. Whit Watson III, 84 of Nashville, TN passed away on December 5, 2021.  Whit was survived by his four children Debbie Beck, Whit Watson IV, Michael Watson and Lewis Watson.  He was preceded in death by his parents H. Whitworth Watson Jr and Dorothy Meek Watson.  Whit grew up in Nashville.  He attended Montgomery Bell Academy where he met many of his lifelong friends. Whit played football for MSU and later graduated from Middle Tennessee State.  He was an incredibly talented athlete and enjoyed sports his entire life.  Whit loved golfing and boating. He spent time on Lake Altoona and the Tennessee River.  Whit began his career as a high school coach in Madison, TN.  He spent many years working for Coastal States Life Insurance and retired as a General Manager in the automotive industry.  Whit lived most of his life in Nashville, TN and Atlanta, GA.  He later retired to Green Cove Springs where he made many friends at the YMC in Fleming Island and at First United Methodist Church.  A celebration of life will be held Saturday December 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church located at 500 Walnut Street in Green Cove Springs, FL.

Cherie Nicole Dorlac
Cherie Nicole Dorlac (36) Passed away December 12, 2021. She was born June 14,1985 in Jacksonville, FL. She was a graduate of Middleburg High School. She attended Purdue University, where she was seeking a degree in Psychology. She was an online crisis counselor, where she could fulfill her passion for helping others. One of her other passions was writing, she loved to express her feelings through her writing so much she published a poetry book. She had a love for music and enjoyed singing often. All these accomplishments were backed by the loving support of her fiancé Brain Smith, but her greatest accomplishment was being a mother to her four beautiful children, whom she loved immensely. She was the type of soul who brought light and joy to everyone she met while here on this earth, with her infectious laugh and beautiful smile. She was preceded in death by her father Alfred Louis Dorlac of Green Cove Springs, FL and her mother Tammy Sue Melvin of Jacksonville, FL. She is survived by her fiancé Brian Smith along with her children Lily Smith, Logan Smith, Luke Smith, and Sarah Smith, her stepmother Faith Dorlac, Green Cove Springs, FL, brother Justin Miller (Laura) Green Cove Springs, sister Bonnie Miller (Kurt) Middleburg, and many loving aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and many cousins. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021 in the Helm-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. until the start of the service.

James ‘Bro’ Mitchell Lawton
Mr. James “Bro” Mitchell Lawton, 48, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 in Jacksonville. Mr. Lawton was born May 3, 1973 in Albany, Georgia to parents Barry Lawton and Dorothy (Neal) Lawton. James was a resident of Orange Park since 1977 and was formerly of Key West. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, darts, woodworking and BBQing and was an excellent cook. He was also an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. His father preceded him in death. Survivors are his mother, Dorothy (Neal) Lawton, brother, Chris Lawton (Denise), niece, Ashely Zehner (Josh) and numerous friends. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 in the Helm-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the start of the service.
