OPMC ranked among top 5% for women’s care

ORANGE PARK – Orange Park Medical Center has earned multiple Healthgrades awards for its superior performance in Labor and Delivery and Obstetrics and Gynecology. This ranks Orange Park Medical Center in the top 5% of all hospitals evaluated and recognizes for their exceptional care of mothers during and after labor and delivery, according to Healthgrades.

For seven years in a row, OPMC has been ranked in the top 5% of hospitals for Labor and Delivery excellence. “We believe it’s important to highlight hospitals that are providing excellent patient-centric care by pointing out the impact it has on patient safety, patient experience, and overall care outcomes,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Healthgrades.

The Healthgrades ratings and awards help patients understand a hospital’s clinical performance in childbirth, hysterectomies and other gynecologic surgeries, and provide the information needed to make an informed decision on where they seek treatment.

“This recognition proves that we are delivering quality care and our patients have an increased chance of us preventing or treating any issues that arise,” said Dr. Nikki Rowan, OBGYN at Orange Park Medical Center’s Orange Park Women’s Health.  “Our team delivers nearly 2,000 babies a year and we have earned their trust. Women have real peace of mind knowing that they will be well taken care of by some of the most talented providers and staff in the area.”

Hospitals that receive excellence awards effectively safeguard their patients from injuries, infections, medical errors, and other complications during their hospital stay.  Patients treated in hospitals receiving the Healthgrades Labor and Delivery Excellence Award had a 41.7% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award. Patients treated in hospitals receiving the Healthgrades Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award had, on average, a 37% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.

“Now more than ever, there is a heightened awareness around the importance of quality healthcare in a safe setting, especially for expectant mothers and their families,” Bowman said. “We’re pleased to recognize Orange Park Medical Center with a long list of awards for providing superior care for women within their communities.”
