KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – Ridgeview High pitcher Richie Long threw a strong six innings with three strikeouts to lead the Panthers to a 7-0 win over Keystone Heights on Tues., March 19 in Keystone Heights.

Long stayed strong until the seventh when reliever Evan Wickeri finished off the Indians batting lineup with a grounder to end the game.

Ridgeview struck first with two runs in the first inning with Long and Anthony Roman bashing back-to-back doubles following an opening double from Wickeri.

For Keystone Heights, Andrew Cox slapped a single on Long then stole second to put the Indians in scoring position but Tripp Davis grounded out to third base to end the threat. Calvin Gunsaulus singled and

Wickeri hit a second double in the second inning and both scored on an error at second base to a Max Williams grounder.

In the ensuing inning, Gunsaulus initiated a double play on a Cole Mattox grounder in a nifty defensive play for Ridgeview that negated a walk to Will Yeldell.

In the fifth, Ridgeview struck again with Williams reaching first on an error and Long also getting on base with an error for a 5-0 lead.

In a regional game against 6A-rival Baker County on Thurs., March 14, Ridgeview got three first inning runs off seven singles and two more in the fourth, but had to hold off a three run surge in the seventh by the Wildcats to win 8-4.

Logan Morris got the win on the mound with three strikeouts in six innings and just two hits allowed. Roman hit a double with six Panther batters hitting for runs; Ryan Dickey twice.
