FLEMING ISLAND – Patrick Thomas was awarded The Hannah White Arnett Medal of Distinction Bronze from the Sophia Fleming Chapter, NSDAR (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution). This award is one of DAR’s newest recognitions that may be presented to a member in good standing of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) for unselfish devotion, tireless efforts, and assistance to the DAR.
The Fleming Island resident has been active in SAR for two years. His patriot was William Hunter, who served in the 3rd South Carolina Regiment and was a POW on one of the Prison Ships in 1779.
Thomas was in Combat Arms as a Cavalry Scout with the US Army and was a Master Gunner on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. He served five overseas tours, four stateside tours and many overseas deployments to Kuwait and Iraq. He retired as a Sgt. First Class with 20 years in 2006.
He has served as Color Guard at many of Sophia Fleming's Chapter events and attended them in his other role as husband of the Chapter’s Registrar, Carrie. They have three adult children.
