GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Players, parents and fans all braved the blustery wind last Saturday to celebrate opening day for the Green Cove Springs Athletic Association. Baseball and softball teams were introduced at Carl Pugh Park ahead of an afternoon of games. Included in the festivities was a $500 donation by Garber Automall Chevrolet new car sales manager Zach Swarthout. City councilwoman Pam Lewis threw out the first pitch for softball, while the Garber Automall mascot GarBear threw out the first pitch to kick off the baseball season.
