FLEMING ISLAND – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said a Jacksonville couple wound up going to jail on drug trafficking charges after being caught in a speed trap at the Doctors Lake bridge on Sunday, March 23.
Duron Antwan Raggins, 41, and Chasity Nicole Fleming, 35, were charged with trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a CCSO deputy was using clocking cars going northbound over the bridge on U.S. Highway 17.
According to the arrest report, he detected a car traveling 62 mph in a 45 mph zone. When the deputy entered the highway, Duron abruptly turned into a gas station and stopped at a gas pump. Duron’s driver’s license proved to be suspended.
A subsequent search of the car unveiled 79.33 grams of methamphetamine, 67.01 grams of cocaine, 90.08 grams of marijuana, 3.16 grams of an undetermined powdery substance, $147 in cash and an assortment of items associated with drug purchases. Most of the items were found in a backpack in the backseat.
While they were being arrested, deputies found an additional $3,022 on Fleming.
The bond for both was set at $300,011.
