Jacksonville man jailed for fighting with deputy, K-9

ORANGE PARK – A man was taken to jail March 13 after he fought with sheriff’s office deputies while being questioned about possible illegal drugs.
Adrian Jay Clark, 41, of Jacksonville, was charged with battery on a police officer, battery on a police K-9, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest with violence and possessing methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clark became agitated after being stopped on the 500 block of Blanding Boulevard for acting “crazy.”
The deputy engaged his K-9 to help subdue the man. When Clark’s backpack was placed on the hood of the patrol car, the K-9 alerted his partner of the presence of drugs, which triggered a fight.
Clark kicked and punched the deputy and the dog until he finally was played in handcuffs. Clark was taken to Orange Park Medical Center to be treated for bite wounds and was released to be taken to jail.

Keystone woman arrested for second time in 14 days for drugs

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – A traffic stop for a burned-out taillight turned into a second drug-related arrest in a 14-day span for a local woman.
Lisa Renee Hunt, 33, of Keystone Heights, was charged with possessing an unlicensed handgun and well as possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
When Hunt was stopped on Bucknell Avenue at 1 a.m., deputies noticed a gun wedged between the driver’s seat and center console. A subsequent search led to the discovery of drugs.
Hunt was one of three people arrested Feb. 27 in a drug raid a few doors down from the traffic stop. She was charged with possessing pills, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia after members of the CCSO SWAT, Targeted Narcotics and Organized Crime Units burst into a mobile home at 6308 Bucknell Ave.
When Hunt arrived to the Clay County Jail, she was caught trying to hide methamphetamine and a straw during booking.
She is being held without bond on the current charges.

Residents’ concerns lead to arrest of wanted man

ORANGE PARK – Deputies were able to arrest a man for an outstanding warrant from attempting to strangle his girlfriend when they responded to a call March 12 to a man possibly selling drugs on Wells Road.
William DeShaun Foster, 38, of Jacksonville, was jailed on charges of domestic battery by strangulation and simple battery when a background check showed he was wanted following a disturbance between Feb. 3-7 in Orange Park.
When deputies arrived to the scene of the argument last month, they found a woman with bruises on her arms and neck.

Local man punched, robbed while walking on GCS sidewalk

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Two men were arrested for punching and robbing a man who was walking on the sidewalk along Jeremys Drive.
Luke Thomas Reid, 19, of St. Johns, and Andrew Ryan Wilkinson, 23, of Green Cove Springs, were charged with unarmed robbery.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was approached by Wilkinson and Reid shortly after 9:30 p.m. on March 14. The victim suffered a cut under his left eye after being punched.

Man killed after hitting tree while riding ATV

MAXVILLE – A 59-year-old man was killed after his ATV ran off Liana Lee Avenue, went through a ditch and struck a tree on March 13.
Kenneth Gray, of Maxville, was thrown from the ATV after he lost control at Horseshoe Road.
