Former boyfriend charged with beating woman during robbery
GREEN COVE SPRINGS – An Atlantic Beach man was transferred from the Duval County Jail on May 19 to face charges he broke into his former girlfriend’s home, punching her and pulling her hair during an attempted burglary on Jan. 27.
John Andrew Crumley, 35, was charged with assault during a burglary after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said he entered the home of a woman he dated two years prior and beat her in her bedroom.
According to the arrest report, deputies said the woman’s lip was bloodied.
His bond was set at $250,003.

Men charged with attacking a man while he slept
ORANGE PARK – According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, a Jacksonville man was arrested after he joined his father in the beating of a man on April 1 while he slept on the floor. According to the arrest report, the attack started when Austin Scott Hare, 27, and his father, Mitchell Hare, threw water on a man before attacking him with their fists and a board. CCSO said the man was the boyfriend of a woman, who was an aunt to Austin Hare and sister of Mitchell Scott Hare. The woman wasn’t injured.
Austin Hare was arrested on May 24 and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery. His bond was set at $75,006.
The father was arrested on April 2 and charged with domestic battery and simple assault. His bond was set at $8,255.
The injured man suffered gashes above his left eye, requiring seven stitches.
