CCSO: Orange Park man jailed for choking estranged wife
ORANGE PARK – A man became irate and choked his estranged wife after she told him to collect his belongings and leave her house, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.
Donald Lee Savage, 36, was charged with felony battery by strangulation and possession of methamphetamine after deputies were called to a domestic disturbance.
The victim said Savage came to the house to pick up their two children. When the victim asked him to take his personal items from the house, she said he grabbed her by the neck twice. She said she collapsed after becoming faint during the second assault.
When deputies found Savage at his home, they found 4.3 grams of methamphetamine in the right-front pocket of his pants.
Savage was released on a $15,006 bond.
