Sheriff’s Office: Man arrested following 4½-hour physical, sexual assault
FLEMING ISLAND – A 38-year-old man was arrested on July 10 after Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies said a woman was beaten and sexually abused by a man who was refused to leave her home.
Christopher James Toth, of Fleming Island, was charged with sexual battery, felony battery by strangulation, adult false imprisonment and tampering with a witness to prevent communication with law enforcement.
When deputies arrived, the victim had “red marks with swelling of the neck, bruising of the lower back and upper buttocks, various bodily minor abrasions and bruises” They also found ripped clothing, feces, blood, clumps of her victim’s hair, a smashed cellphone and a broken master bedroom window.
According to the arrest report, the victim was choked with an extension cord during the argument, and Toth broke her cellphone when she tried to call for help.
The victim said Toth became intoxicated, so he asked him to leave. When he refused, it quickly escalated into a fight. The assault lasted about 4½ hours, the victim told CCSO.
Toth’s bond was set at $335,012.

CCSO: Explosive devices found on man who pointed gun at father
MIDDLEBURG – A man was arrested after his father said he pressed a gun to his head on July 20.
Michael Christopher Dyne, 31, of Middleburg, was charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, two counts of making and possessing a destructive device, carrying a concealed weapon or electronic device and violation of the concealed weapon law after deputies also found cache of weapons in his car, including a CO2 canister with a green fuse.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office answered a disturbance call at Dyne’s father’s house. By then, Dyne had driven home. Deputies blocked the roadway on Rhonda Drive and eventually were able to put Dyne into custody. CCSO said he was wearing a homemade tactical vest.
A search of his car found the CO2 explosive device, brass knuckles, a handgun, a plastic tube with a green fuse, two baseball bats and four knives.

Woman charged with stabbing girlfriend during argument
ORANGE PARK – A woman was in the Clay County Jail after another woman was stabbed and slashed with a razor at the Stay Suites of America on Wells Road.
Heather Nichole Meunier, 30, of Green Cove Springs, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felony battery by strangulation. He bond was set at $125,006.
According to the arrest report, when deputies arrived, they found a woman bleeding heavily from her left triceps and left back shoulder. The victim’s mother told deputies Meunier attacked her daughter.
The woman said her daughter asked Meunier to leave their room. When she allowed Meunier into the room, the victim said she was choked and punched. Meunier then grabbed the victim’s belongings and threw them over the balcony.
Meunier told deputies the mother stabbed her daughter.

Deputies break up shoplifting spree in Orange Park
ORANGE PARK – Two Jacksonville men were in the Clay County Jail after sheriff’s office deputies said they went on a shoplifting spree on July 15 in the county.
Jarrod Roderick Jackson, 29, was charged with retail petit theft and battery on a police officer after he was stopped following the theft of four boxes of shoes from Shoe Carnival and wrestling with officers during the arrest.
Jackson also was arrested for taking a carton of cigarettes, a pack of cigarettes and three $10 scratch-off tickets from the 7-Eleven on Blanding.
Charlie Anquin Johnson, 42, was charged with grand theft after witnesses said he took two boxes of sneakers and a book bag from Shoe Carnival and helped Jackson steal the cigarettes and lottery tickets from the convenience store.
Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies used a taser to get Jackson under control, according to the arrest report. Even after being tasered, Jackson managed to blacken the eye of a deputy with a punch.
Jackson tried to escape on Blanding Boulevard, but he was caught a half-mile away. Deputies found all six boxes of sneakers and the book bag in the car.
Deputies also learned the car being used by Jackson and Johnson was reported stolen in Jacksonville.

Four years later, CCSO tracks down shoplifter
ORANGE PARK – Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies tracked down a man at the Pinellas County Jail to serve a four-year-old warrant for stealing two laptops from the Walmart in Middleburg.
George Henry Devard, 31, of St. Petersburg, was charged with grand theft.
According to the arrest report, Walmart reported two of its laptops, with a combined value of $1,398, were taken from the store on July 11, 2016. The serial numbers were traced to a Jacksonville pawn shop the next day and Renee Diane Johnson was arrested on Nov. 28, 2016, for pawning stolen property.
Devard was arrested in Pinellas County. He also has “numerous active warrants” from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
