Oakleaf murder suspect killed by Maryland police
OAKLEAF – The man wanted for murder by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office was shot and killed by police Tuesday afternoon in Maryland.
Shawn Lequin Braddy was killed by officers with the Prince George County Police Department when they tried to arrest him. A Montgomery County deputy was shot in the chest in the shootout following a short foot chase and shootout at an apartment complex in Laurel.
Officers were part of the U.S. Marshals task force, who were assigned to catching Braddy after deputies said he shot and killed his estranged girlfriend, Tiara McDaniels, on Grayson Lane Monday in Oakleaf.
Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus Jones said, “A chase ensued with a gun battle. The suspect was wounded and succumbed to his injuries on the scene.”
The officer was listed in stable condition following surgery.

Man charged with murder after shooting wife in head
OAKLEAF – A 60-year-old man was arrested Saturday morning, Nov. 14, and charged with killing his wife with a single shot to the head.
Cleon Erland McQueen, was booked into the Clay County Jail on a charge of premeditated murder. He’s being held without bond.
According to the arrest report, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence near Deercroft Lane in Oakleaf Plantation after neighbors said they heard a gunshot. They found his wife, Terrion, in the front seat of her SUV with a wound to the left side of her head. She was transported to the Orange Park Medical Center where she later died, CCSO said.
Deputies said the apparent murder weapon was a .380 handgun. They also said the shooting appeared to be a domestic dispute and that he punched his wife in the head before shooting her.
A neighbor told deputies the McQueens were having “marital issues.”
Neighbors said they saw McQueen “casing” the neighborhood prior to the shooting. McQueen then traveled to Jacksonville and turned himself into the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Man arrested for breaking into home, threatening residents
ORANGE PARK – A 37-year-old man was arrested for breaking into a home and threatening the residents while he tried to rob them.
Joshua Robert Welch, of Orange Park, was charged with burglary and armed burglary on Nov. 11 after Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies found him crouching behind a barbecue grill near the victim’s garage.
Welch was identified as the man who entered the couple’s kitchen in the middle of the afternoon.

Traffic stop leads to arrest for gun, drug possession
ORANGE PARK – An alert Jacksonville Sheriff's Office deputy stopped a pickup truck in Clay County after he learned the owner’s license was suspended, and that led to an arrest for drugs and weapons.
Emmanuel Joseph Blanco, 39, of Jacksonville, was charged on Nov. 13 with possession of a weapon and ammo by a convicted felon, as well as possession of methamphetamine, ecstasy/molly, fentanyl and oxycodone and trafficking in cocaine.
According to the arrest report, Blanco was a passenger in a truck that was stopped after a routine check revealed the driver’s license was suspended. K-9 Odin then alerted deputies of the likely presence of drugs in the truck. Deputies said the handgun was reported stolen.
Blanco, who was convicted of armed carjacking, had a holster in his waistband, as well as a pill bottle with the ecstasy or molly.
Blanco’s bond was set at $350,021.

Couple goes to jail after they were stopped for expired tag
OAKLEAF – A couple were arrested after they were stopped for an expired tag on Nov. 13.
Christopher Patrick Swihart, 41, of Jacksonville, was charged with possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as driving with a suspended license. Kelly Frances McParland, 40, of Jacksonville, was charged with an out of county warrant. She was wanted in Jacksonville for battery on a person 65 years or older.
K-9 Cash alerted deputies of the presence of drugs inside the car.

Stolen tag leads to man’s arrest for drugs on Wells Road
ORANGE PARK – A Jacksonville man was charged with possession heroin, two controlled substances without a prescription and drug paraphernalia, along with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop on Wells Road.
Jack Edward Johnson Jr., 24, was stopped after deputies were alerted the tag on his Jeep was reported stolen in Jacksonville.
Deputies learned the tag belonged to a car owned by Johnson’s father.
K-9 Oden alerted deputies of drugs during the stop.
