GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Most of the world’s top cowboys and cowgirls will be at the Clay County Fairground’s Cattleman’s Arena for Friday and Saturday’s Clay County Pro Rodeo.

In addition to 25-time International Pro Rodeo Association World Champion Justin Thigpen, these are some of the other stars scheduled to compete:

Kevin Daniel, four-time world champion Team Roper

The cowboy from Ocala won his first world championship with Stephen Britnell in 1998, with Daniel roping the head and Britnell the heel. The duo returned in 2001 to win another gold, and Daniel partnered with Nickey Simmons in 2002 and Jake Edwards in 2019 for more gold-winning performances.

“Winning my fourth gold buckle was surreal to me,” Daniel said. “It was 22 years ago that I won my first world title, and to come back and win another world title after several years was very special.”

 Erin Wetzel, Barrel Racing

With five victories this year and 21 in her seven-year career, the Barrel Racer from Plant City will try to extend her Florida winning streak to six this weekend. Her victories aboard Squirrel this year came at Inverness, Bartow, and Davie (three times).

Hailey and Michaela Wall, Dare Devil Trick Riders

The Wall sisters are from St. Cloud. Hailey has been a Dare Devil Trick Rider since she was 8. They are part of the Faithful W Ranch Riders at the Florida Gateway Rodeo Arena. The ranch specializes in entertaining young riders with tricks.
