MIDDLEBURG – This year’s silent auction to benefit the Safe Animal Shelter will be online via Givesmart. It will run until Saturday, Sept. 26, at 9 p.m. The live auction will start Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. and will be played live on Facebook Live with auctioneer Senator Aaron Bean and MC Charlie Robinson.

The auction, when in person, is the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year, covering a large portion of its medical expenses. This year is no different.

This is the busiest year Safe Animal Shelter has had with currently more than 632 animals in foster or preadoption. That doesn’t include the animals already at the shelter. The cost to have them all ready for adoption will be more than $60,000.

There will be more than 300 items to bid on as well as buy instantly for the shelter.

Here are the instructions to log in and get started on the action:

In your browser type SAFEAUCTION2020.GIVESMART.COM. You will be on the right page when you see a cat and dog and it says Roundup for Rescues Virtual Fall Event.

In the top right-hand corner click on Sign in or Register.

It will take you to a box where you will click on Register Now at the bottom.

Once you have registered it says: All Set! Welcome to Safe Animal Shelter. Click on OK.

This will take you to the page where you click on VIEW ITEMS where you can browse and start bidding!

NOTE: Bids are already being accepted and it won’t close until Sept. 26. Keep watch daily on your bids. Click on the star to watch an item.
