BRADENTON - Oakleaf Junior High School sprinter Kyah Shannon topped off her outstanding season with two top 10 finishes at the FLYRA Middle School State Championships held Sat., May 11 in Bradenton.
Shannon, with a handful of county track titles in her pocket for sprinting and sprint relays for the Yellow Jackets, finished fifth in the 200 meter dash in 24.88 seconds and sixth in the 100 meters in 12.20 to lead the Yellow Jackets. Shannon also boosted the girls 4 x 100 relay squad with a fifth place finish.
Other top finishers were Green Cove Springs Junior High’s Kavon Miller who took eighth in the 800 in 2:10.16 and Oakleaf sprinter Evan Brown, who took 12th in the 100 in 11.34. Oakleaf hurdler Brendan Cook finished ninth in the 100 hurdles in 15.02.
