Faith walk: Signs

Everyone is looking for a sign. This is true for almost every area of our lives.

A girl wants a sign that her fiancé really loves her. The man wants a like sign that he is the center of her affection.

Businesses want a sign that you are a loyal customer. If you take our “red card” (or blue or whatever) we will give you a discount because you have signaled that you are loyal to our store.

Your church wants you to commit to tithe or give consistently as a sign that you are committed. In many of them, you need to prove this to be appointed to any position.

One day some teachers of religious law and Pharisees came to Jesus and said, “Teacher, we want you to show us a miraculous sign to prove your authority.” This was after many healings and miracles. They wanted a “miracle on demand” as a sign from Him. (Matt.12:38-39)

But Jesus answered, “The only sign I will give you is the sign of the prophet Jonah. As Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.”

In these words Jesus was saying the only sign you will receive is my death and resurrection!

You want a sign that God really loves you. You want a sign that He is aware of you and your needs. You want a sign that He has not forgotten you and that He will never forget you.

You have it. It is His word. In it, He repeatedly declares His immeasurable love for you.

So here is your sign that God loves you with a supreme and eternal love.

Jesus gave His life on the cross for you. He rose from the dead to prove His love can never be conquered – not even by death.
