SJR State hosting ‘FASFA Frenzy’ to help with financial aid

ORANGE PARK—St. Johns River State College will present “FASFA Frenzy” at its Orange Park campus on Oct. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Viking Center, with the final session starting at 6:30 p.m. The event will provide pertinent information to families applying for college financial aid.

“Finances should not be a barrier to attending college,” said SJR State’s Financial Aid Director Suzanne Evans. “The event will provide qualified students with information necessary to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is the first and most important step in applying for financial aid.” To apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study, and loans, students must complete the FAFSA.

Potential students can base their financial information on the previous year’s tax return. Those intending to enroll in college during the 2025-26 academic year are encouraged to complete the form as soon as possible, as some funds are awarded on an as-needed basis while others are awarded first-come, first-served.

Attendees are highly encouraged to RSVP and apply for their student/parent federal student aid ID before the event to ensure prompt verification and completion of the application during the event. To create the FSA ID, visit studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch FAFSA.

Filling out the FAFSA doesn't obligate students to go on a particular career track or college.
