• Middleburg preparing for a gala for the 4th of July celebrations with a parade, old fashioned games, county music, skydiving exhibition and a grand finale of fireworks display.
• Sheriff Jennings Murrhee and Green Cove Springs Police Chief Carl Crossley made a joint statement that the investigation of the assault on City Commissioner Larry Miller was being dropped because Miller at that time didn’t want to press criminal charges.
• Sil Rugg, a resident at North Palm Beach, donated his Florida Military Academy Uniform from the 1926-29 to the Clay County Historical Museum in excellent condition.
