The Big League Dream plan for a sports complex off Branon Road in Middleburg is killed after five years of negotiations.

Town of Orange Park is told it needs to spend an additional $18,256 for repairs to the T.C. Miller Center and to expand the center’s parking lot.

Clay High’s baseball team loses 5-2 in the Class 5A state finals to Tampa Jesuit.

10 years ago, 2009

Nineteen Oakleaf High students received perfect scores on the FCAT writing exams.

Take Stock in Children earns top honors – and a $10,000 check – from the Paul E. and Klare N. Reinhold Foundation as the county’s top non-profit organization at Celebrate Clay Awards.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Fish and Wildlife and members of Auxiliary Unit 14-8 found 85 violations on 130 boats during a safety check at Knight’s Marina in Green Cove Springs.

Three corrections officers – Richard Cribbs, Peter Robinson and Michael Adams – were fired after being charged with battery and falsifying records against inmate Michael Holland.

Michael Haney of Keystone Heights High and Lori Denise Bayler of Clay High each won a $1,000 scholarship from the Clay County Chamber of Commerce.

Merchants along Wells Road in Orange Park get grants totaling $5,000 with hopes of getting additional matching grants to make up for lost customers during roadwork of the business corridor.

Green Cove Springs residents are told cable television will become available on July 1 for $8 a month for basic or $16 for basic and premium movie channels.
