• Local schools participate in countywide celebration of Veteran’s Day with on-campus ceremonies.

• A Clay County courtroom is packed with friends and well-wishers for a celebration after Circuit Court Judge William A. Wilkes announces his retirement.

• Leo Kaczmar III is sentenced to death after he was convicted of stabbing 49-year-old Maria Ruiz more than 50 times and setting her house on fire to cover up the killing.

• Lake Asbury Junior High pays homage to the Salvation Army and the Augusta Savage Arts and Community Center with its Empty Soup Bowl and Fine Arts Celebration.
