ORANGE PARK – A Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy turned a routine traffic ticket into a significant drug bust on Feb. 20, on Wells Road.
Tracey Jo Caserotti, 30, of Jacksonville, was charged with trafficking opium/fentanyl and possession of cocaine, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia after a deputy learned the license tag wasn’t assigned to the car following a routine check. During the stop, the deputy also noticed one of the brake lights didn’t work.
Caserotti was a passenger in the front seat, with two passengers in the back seat and at least one child who wasn’t in the car seat.
The driver didn’t provide his license, date of birth or Social Security number. The deputy then called for assistance from K-9 deputy Mak. The dog indicated the likely presence of narcotics inside the car, and a search uncovered a glass pipe with burnt residue under Caserotti’s left leg, plus 22.06 grams of fentanyl and 2.76 grams of meth in a bag.
Her bond was set at $305,011.
