ORANGE PARK – Sisters Jo Johnson and Kiara Simons wanted to bring Tampa’s version of deviled crab to the Jacksonville area, and they did just that when they opened their food truck last year. Aptly named “Two Sisters and a Deviled Crab” the duo plans to open a new restaurant inside the Orange Park Mall Food Court this summer.
Johnson said, “Our business grew expeditiously in the last year to rave reviews, yet we realized that there is a huge opportunity to introduce the brand to new customers. Considering the massive growth that has taken place in Orange Park, coupled with the exposure we will receive from mall patrons, making a permanent home in Orange Park Mall was a no-brainer!”
The menu will differ from anything currently available inside the 950,000-square-foot center. It will feature Tampa-inspired deviled crab and other bougie delights such as a Cuban sandwich and Chlobster bites (lobster mac-n-cheese made with five premium cheeses rolled into a ball and deep fried.)
The new restaurant will occupy 895 square feet, across from Champ’s Sports. The space will be remodeled, with grand opening plans slated for July. The sisters plan to hire six-to-10 employees in June and will continue to operate the food truck for private events and festivals.
“This is a great example of Orange Park Mall’s ongoing commitment to creating a vibrant shopping center where community members can safely shop, dine, and connect,” said Randy Bowman, general manager for the mall.
