The Value Bins celebrates grand opening this weekend
GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Shoppers found tremendous value last Friday and Saturday at the soft opening of The Value Bins Store in the Cove Plaza on Highway 17. Items valued at $25, $50, $100 and more than $200 were purchased for only $7 on Friday and $5 on Saturday.
They now are preparing for their Grand Opening on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 27-28. Doors will open at 9 a.m. but those waiting in line will be given number tickets beginning at 7:30 a.m. and instructions at 8:45.
In case you have never heard of a bin store, it is a relatively new shopping experience. The Value Bins Store has 63 bin tables that are four-feet by eight-feet with 10-inch sides that will be filled with about 12,000 returns, shelf pulls and overstock items from Amazon. Items are unsorted and you might find just about anything in a bin.
What makes bin stores unique is that all items in the bins are one price and that price goes down throughout the week. The price begins at $7 on Friday and goes down to $5 on Saturday, $3 on Monday, $1 on Tuesday and only 50 cents an item on Wednesday. They will be closed on Sundays for rest and worship and Thursdays to restock the store with another truckload of merchandise. They have no idea what they might be selling from week to week.
Bob and Jackie Kulpa of St. Augustine are the owners. They’ve partnered with Russell Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs to provide a Prayer and Praise Zone in the back of the store and a wall display with a gospel presentation with an opportunity for people to respond or ask questions.
There is also a sister store at the same location, The Value Pound Store. They are selling clothing, linens, shoes, belts, purses and more by the pound. Starting price is $2 per pound but the more you buy the lower the price per pound. The Value Pound Store is owned by Mark and Alisa Tillman who also own and operate the Spectrum Thrift Stores in Fruit Cove and Mandarin that support autism ministries in northeast Florida.
If you are an adventurous bargain hunter or just want to check out a new shopping experience, check out the new Value Stores at 1433 S. Orange Ave. on the south side of Green Cove Springs. For more details check them out at Facebook.com/TheValueBinsStore.
