FLEMING ISLAND – Clay County Animal Services has made the Petco Love 2021 Top 100 Adoption Partners list. The animal shelter received this recognition due to the outstanding effort its staff made to increase the number of pet adoptions by partnering with offsite adoption locations like Petco on Fleming Island.
In addition to the many animals available for adoption at the animal shelter in Green Cove Springs, Clay County Animal Services places adoptable pets at Petco in Fleming Island each week, where they are adopted out to the community by Petco staff. Thanks to this long-standing adoption partnership with Petco, 250 animals found forever homes in 2021. This brings the total number of pets adopted through Clay County Animal Services to 2,186 in 2021, and the reason why Petco Love wanted to acknowledge this achievement.
Clay County Animal Services Shelter Manager Aymie Hellard said, “Clay County Animal Services would not have been able to reach the top 100 Adoption Partners list without the tireless dedication of our staff, partners, volunteers, and the amazing foster families and adopters that gave forever homes to our animals. Thank you!”
In recognition of these efforts, VIP Adoption Partner Petco on Fleming Island will receive Petco Love branded items for future adoptions, including wire crates, leashes and collars. These items will be offered to families when they take home their newly-adopted pet.
“Clay County Animal Services appreciates the strong partnership with Petco and shares the common goal of increasing the number of shelter animals adopted each year. Shelter staff and volunteers should be commended for the work they do to better our lives and the lives of homeless pets through adoption,” said Board of County Commissioners Chairman Wayne Bolla.
