GREEN COVE SPRINGS –Commissioners approved the 2024/2025 maximum millage rates at Tuesday's board meeting.
The approved rates for each taxing unit are as follows:
County Services- 5.5471
Unincorporated Services MSTU- 0.1477
Law Enforcement MSTU- 2.4014
Fire Control MSTU- 0.5048
Lake Asbury MSBD- 0
Challenger Center MSTU- 3
Commissioners also approved a resolution, voted on by citizens in the November election, that will levy up to 0.2 mills ad valorem property tax. The resolution will also include an additional taxing unit for the Conservation Lands Program.
In other business,
Due to budget constraints, commissioners voted to cancel 22 extensive projects that had been in the works. The projects, totaling around $2.4 million, consisted mainly of upgrades and repair jobs.
There will be a tentative budget hearing on Sept. 9 at 5:05 p.m., and a final budget hearing on Sept. 23 at 5:05 p.m.
